How to know if you are Pregnant & How to Deal With It

Determining if your menstrual cycle is off track is one of the most important factors in figuring out if you may be indeed pregnant. Think back to your last menstrual date, and lets do the math. If you are a day or two past, it doesnt necessarily mean there's a baby bun in your oven. :)

Also, do you feel different? Are you starting to get some sickness even when a delicious plate is staring you in the face? Do you feel a bit constipated or lightheaded at times? These are a few signs of a possible pregnancy.

And ofcourse, there is the infamous pregnancy test. I would personally make this my first choice. I recently had my doubts about if I was, so I went to wal mart, CVS, Heb and the doctor. Ha-ha. I started with the a really simple "one line or two" test. I also tried the digital one that tells you in words. Finally, I went for a blood test to see if maybe the store exams were for some reason not reading right. The reason I went through so many measures to find out is because I have been feeling sickness, cravings then loss of appetite and dizziness. All which are symptoms for pregnancy.

Turns out, it seems to just be stress. It is one of the most common causes for a delayed menstural cycle. Some people that I personally know have gone months without a period because it is just the way their body deals with stress. Work, relationship or school can be stressing us out.

Another reason, as I saw last night on GLEE, is a hysterical pregnancy. Where basically the woman wants to be pregnant so badly, that her body begins to mimick the signs of being pregnant. The gaining weight, cravings, sickness...the whole nine yards.

So basically, youre best bet is, wrap up.. use the contraceptive pill or if in doubt, purchase a $15 pregnancy test to pee on ;)

The Results Are In

After months, I got the most definate "no". But what if you get a little pink "yes" on your test? This is not the right time to freak out. Stay calm, dont get overwhelmed. Life is about taking everything one step at a time. You have options.

You can go the 9 months...

There is more than enough help for you if you decide to keep the baby. Financial, there is government aid (we might as well use our tax dollars for something), family for emotional support. Make sure to start going to the doctor for your regular check ups to keep yourself and your child healthy.

There is help, and you won't be Judged...

Ok who am I kidding? Abortion is the most controversial topic out there, I think. But I have never been one to shy away from the topic.

And of course, there is ADOPTION

If for whatever reason you decide you do not want to or cannot keep your child, but you are willing to go the 9 months here are some links. My only advice on this is that this may be the toughest decision, and you might want to consider that once you give birth you will fall madly in love with your child at first sight of their face or sound of a light cry. Are you emotionally willing to give your child up to another family?
